1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to Strangle (accessible at https://strangle.in and our native mobile applications). Strangle is a social-discovery platform providing instant real-time voice and video conversations between verified opposite-gender peers.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how Strangle collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your information, including data obtained via Google Sign-In and other authentication providers.

2. Google API Services User Data Policy

When you choose to sign in to Strangle using Google OAuth 2.0, we access specific information from your Google account. Here is exactly how that data is handled:

Data We Access: Your basic Google public profile information, including your full name, email address, Google account ID (sub), and profile photo URL.
How We Use Google Data: We use your Google email and profile exclusively to authenticate your identity, create your secure Strangle account, prevent spam/bot duplicate accounts, and protect our user community from bad actors.
How We Store Google Data: Your account identifier and email are encrypted in transit via TLS 1.3 and securely stored in our encrypted databases with strict role-based access control.
Strict No-Sale / No-Sharing Guarantee: Strangle does NOT sell, rent, trade, or transfer your Google user data to third parties, data brokers, or advertising networks. We never use Google user data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Strangle adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. Information We Collect

A. Account & Profile Info

Email address, chosen display name, self-declared gender (used strictly for matchmaking balance), and optional profile avatar.

B. Audio & Video Streams (Zero Retention)

Peer-to-peer real-time WebRTC audio and video communications are strictly ephemeral. We do NOT record, store, or monitor private voice calls or video streams on our servers.

C. Technical & Device Data

IP address, device identifiers, operating system version, and general network telemetry necessary for establishing WebRTC peer connections.

D. Trust & Safety Reports

User-submitted moderation reports, block lists, and community guideline violation flags to enforce safety rules.

4. Data Retention & Call Privacy

We operate under a strict Zero-Retention Policy for real-time media:

  • Voice calls and video feeds are streamed directly peer-to-peer using end-to-end encrypted WebRTC channels and are never stored.
  • Once a stranger call concludes, all temporary WebRTC signalling sessions are immediately dumped from server memory.
  • Chat messages exchanged between mutual friends are encrypted and retained only until deleted by the participants or upon account deletion.

5. Data Deletion & Your Rights

You have the right to access, export, or permanently delete your account and all associated personal information at any time:

Option 1: Direct in-app deletion: Navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account.

Option 2: Email deletion request: Send an email from your registered Google address to jay@strangle.in with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Your account, profile, and credentials will be permanently purged within 48 hours.
